The Ceremony

The ceremony itself may be as traditional or contemporary as you wish. Remember this is your wedding, and you should plan the ceremony you want.
I provide an extensive range of resources to assist you. You are encouraged to write your own vows based on your thoughts about marriage and the kind of relationship you are committed to. You may write the vows yourself or choose and alter examples I can provide.
I have a number of suggestions for the exchange of rings, and other sub-ceremonies from which you can make a selection, or you can write as much of the ceremony as you would like. After discussing your wishes together over time, I will prepare a draft ceremony for your consideration.
To help me make the ceremony truly personal you might like to share with me something about yourselves, such as:

  • How did you first meet?
  • When did you fall in love?
  • What do you love about each other?
  • What does marriage mean to you?
  • What led you to choose the place for the ceremony?

Legal Documentation

The Notice of Intended Marriage must be signed in front of the Registered Marriage Celebrant a clear month before the ceremony. I will provide this form for you, and it makes sense to sign this as soon as possible so there is one less thing to be concerned about when the wedding is getting closer.

The Form 14 Declarations also need to be signed, but closer to the wedding date. This is a declaration that there is no legal impediment to your marriage, and I will complete this ready for your signature.
I also need to see your original Birth Certificates before the marriage can take place. Where there has been a previous marriage I need to see evidence of your divorce, or the death certificate if your previous partner is deceased.
On your wedding day, you will need to sign the Marriage Register, the Certificate of Marriage (for forwarding to Births, Deaths and Marriages after the ceremony) and a Certificate of Marriage for you, the couple.
Two witnesses over the age of eighteen are required to sign the certificates on the day. Please let me know their full names in advance.

On Your Wedding Day

Barry specialises in a very professional and personalised service, and will ensure that everything runs smoothly on your Big Day.

To help you remember and treasure your wedding day, you will receive a presentation folder containing a presentation copy of your ceremony and a copy of your Certificate of Marriage.

A top of the range Mipro public address system (with a built-in CD player) ensures your carefully selected words can be heard by all.
